some goodbyes...

Changes...

"Change is the only constant. Hanging on is the only sin. " 

It's been one of those months. Going off to college, going off to Spain, going off to new jobs, going off to be with a loved one.

I don't like it. I'm proud of them all. I'm lonely.

But I'm getting used to it. I hear from them, they hear from me.

The house stays cleaner, work isn't quite as fun. I've finished more projects at home, signed up for another photography class, and been a little less distracted at work.

Why Photography?

Why do I take photos? .... it started out for documentation. I'm linear. I'm chronological. I like order. I started taking photos to document my life, the places I visit. I want to have prompts to help me remember. I've been afraid to take photos "just because" until recently. The advent of digital has helped. I don't like to waste. Taking photos "just because" felt like wasting when I used film. My first real attempt at taking photos "just because" I like the image, the feeling it evoked occurred during our recent visit to Hawaii. I'm afraid of water. So while the family ventured across a small river to explore, I stayed behind with my camera on the beach. I found these rocks and I spent the next bit of time playing around with composition.
